What else do we do?

For the past several years, we have worked with the City of Virginia Beach Department of Parks and Recreation's K-9 Karnival, providing a rabies vaccination clinic for dogs (since it is an outdoor event and so many dogs are present, we have not included cats in these specific clinics). Beginning in 2004, Norfolk Animal Management Humane Officers have joined us to microchip dogs at a reduced fee. At our most recent clinic in May 2005, we vaccinated 165 dogs for rabies, and microchipped over 50 dogs!

We have donated funds to a variety of animal organizations [either monetary or spays/neuters]. Our two-person staff routinely answers thousands of phone calls every year from animal caregivers who have questions on literally every imaginable subject! We provide referrals to local, state, and federal resources.

We assisted the Prevent A Litter Coalition [PaLC] in lobbying for the "I'm Animal Friendly" license plates which are seen everywhere throughout Virginia, and we provided funding and other support for their Spay/Neuter postage stamp campaign.

In 1995, we established the only arts program which revolves around animals and animal issues -- Animals and the Arts.
